Black Lumina:

Beyond the Unseeing Gaze

Zakiya "Lenabella" Jones

February 7th, 2025 - February 28th, 2025

Black Lumina: Beyond the Unseeing Gaze is a fantasy-driven exploration of Black identity freed from the constraints of historical oppression and the “white gaze.” Each piece weaves together vibrant, dreamlike depictions of Black people as they might exist in a world uninhibited by cultural erasure, embodying strength, joy, and self-determination. In a blend of watercolor, ink, acrylic, and a host of other media, this exhibit celebrates the beauty of Blackness through luminous color, bold patterns, and magical motifs. These scenes transcend earthly limitations, reflecting my vision of Black life beyond the margins, where identity and agency shine in their full expression. Through these works, I hope to invite viewers to see Blackness as an infinite spectrum of creativity, beauty, and power.

Death by Gun

Eileen Woods

April 4th, 2025 - April 25th, 2025

I have watched, grieved, and waited for meaningful action on gun control. Children have been intentionally or accidentally killing themselves or others. Individuals with mental illnesses or driven by racist ideologies have committed mass murders. Young people on the streets have sought revenge. It is a tragic and all-too-familiar story, one that has been thoroughly documented. I recognize that I cannot stop this epidemic, especially when even electing sympathetic legislators often proves ineffective. What I can do is document the tragedy in my own way, shedding light on the victims of gun violence in a deeply personal manner.

The series comprises 100 framed 4"x4" woodburned and Prismacolor portraits, hand-embroidered portraits, group portraits of families who perished in the same incident, and two large portraits of toddlers. Each piece is crafted with meticulous care and respect. The embroidered portraits, in particular, are painstakingly detailed and time-consuming, offering me the space to reflect on the life and death of each subject.

While many Americans are familiar with mass shootings such as those at Uvalde or Tops Market, the majority of victims featured in this series are known only to their grieving loved ones. They are people whose incomprehensible loss continues to echo through the lives of those left behind.

In The End,
We Are All Stories

Shannon Marie Timura

May 2nd, 2025 - May 30th, 2025

Life is a collection of moments, a series of fleeting experiences that shape who we are but never fully define us. "In the End, We Are All Stories" invites you to step into these moments, with sculptures representing people of all ages, each accompanied by a single page torn from their life. These brief glimpses offer a window into their world—snapshots of joy or the mundane, struggle, love or transformation.

The sculptures, crafted from a diverse range of materials including clay, fabric, felt, paper, and found objects, reflect the complexity and texture of life. Each piece tells a unique story, built from the tangible and the everyday, just as our lives are pieced together from countless experiences.

But these pages, like the moments we share with others, are incomplete. No one knows the entire story; we only receive fragments, a page, or if we’re fortunate, a chapter. This exhibition reflects on the mystery of human connection—how our lives intersect, how we see parts of each other but never the whole. Each sculpture stands as a reminder that every person we meet carries a narrative in progress, a story still being written. And when that life is over, the stories we remember are all still just fragments of the completed book.

Mythic Visions

Kayla Billings

August 1st, 2025 - August 29th, 2025

"Mythic Visions" is an exploration of femininity through the lens of religious and mythological narratives. Each drawing, executed solely in ink, draws from the visual language of comic books while embracing the beauty of empty spaces inspired by Chinese landscape paintings. The exhibition focuses on themes such as Divine Femininity, gender roles, and the sacredness of feminine power, derived from various historical sources.

Central to the exhibition is the use of the Japanese concept of mitate, where unexpected figures are substituted for expected ones, creating a fresh take on classical themes. These reinterpretations honor art history while reimagining ancient stories in a contemporary form, offering a journey that challenges traditional roles and reclaims femininity in a modern context.

Winter Shadow
Winter Light

Group Exhibit

November 21st, 2025 - January 2nd, 2026

Before the electric shine of lights to extend the short days, before the technology that can peer into all places we are curious about, before the ability to call out for help was omnipresent in our pockets...

When the days got short and the shadows darker and the forest impassable, the imagination built the creatures and monsters that kept the paths empty and quiet in the winter.

In this show we will shine a light on them.
